Masseria Antonio Augusto, a six-room luxury hotel located in the town of Leverano (Lecce), is an authentic example of a traditional farmhouse transformed into a private resort. It seamlessly blends the austerity of a centuries-old structure with high-end furnishings from Belgium – specifically from the province of Limburg, where the owner first emigrated at the age of eleven.
At the entrance, a custom-made oak piece by Casimir welcomes guests into the hall. The walls, crafted from Lecce stone (a local limestone), are hand-polished; the monastic arched corridors and ceiling frescoes – protected as historical heritage – have been fully restored. The travertine marble floors feature a matte finish. In the "Silence Room," a space available for private dining, sits a long oak table accompanied by refined "tree trunk" stools designed by Casimir.
In the garden, a swimming pool surrounded by Tribù furniture invites relaxation, while the in-house restaurant serves traditional Salento dishes reimagined with a contemporary twist.
Where a cool cellar once stood, owner Antonio Augusto Vetrugno has created a wellness area featuring a sauna, Turkish bath, and vertical hydromassage shower. Antonio Augusto returned to his homeland with a high-impact project that highlights how migration can enrich both perspectives: "We are going against the grain, bringing Limburg design into this Southern Salento context. The circle is complete."
